Bowl Casting Masterclass | Nottingham

249.00

A weekend mould-making and casting Masterclass, designed and led by product designer & artist Claire Baily and surface designer Olivia Aspinall

During this weekend workshop you will have the opportunity to make a 2 piece silicone mould, learn how to cast with Jesmonite and create your own unique bowl to take home.

What you will do:

Day 1

An introduction to the weekend, us and the materials. You will make a 2 part poured silicone mould from a pre-prepared plaster form, going on to design and prepare your individual colour palette for your bowl.

Day 2

You will learn how to prepare, mix and cast a Jesmonite bowl. Finally you will sand and finish your bowl ready to take home.

Materials
We will primarily be working with Silicone and Jesmonite.

Silicone is a versatile mould making material that is used to make highly detailed flexible moulds that can last for many casts.

Jesmonite is an acrylic modified gypsum composite, that is non toxic and contains no VOC’s.

We will also be using water based pigments and a microcrystalline wax for finishing. All materials are included.

Please wear suitable clothing - things can get messy!

The Results
By the end of the workshop you will have a unique Jesmonite bowl to take home alongside a silicone mould which can be used for many more casts in the future. Please note - This bowl is not food safe or water resistant so should be used for decorative purposes only.
